Helping Students with Language-Based Learning DisabilitiesThe early years of a child’s school experience are critical in building foundational skills and developing a positive attitude toward learning. For many students, language-based learning disabilities and other related disorders, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, executive functioning, and ADD/ADHD can make learning a challenging process. Programs have been developed to help students overcome these challenges; however, many teachers have not been trained or do not have adequate time to dedicate to individualized instruction. The Learning Loft provides customized lessons, which supplement students’ primary school instruction with new strategies that will enable them to be successful in the classroom. Developing Strategies to Build MasteryWith experience teaching students with language-based learning disabilities, I understand that no one program fits every child. The Programs page describes several effective programs I use to help students. The Learning Loft develops a unique program, which is tailored to the specific needs and learning style for each individual. Tutoring sessions may cover learning new strategies or the application of these strategies to their current school work. The goal is to enable students to master learning strategies while making learning engaging. Program Focus
